Let our material expertise open the door to a whole world of new properties, new strength and new savings

We work with a wide range of materials, including polyurethane, plastic, epoxy, carbon fiber, aluminum, and other metals. The choice of material always has to do with providing the customer with the optimal combination of properties, weight, strength, durability, environmental considerations and cost of ownership. That is why we start bringing value to the project – and to the bottom line – as early as in the R&D phase.

Polymers are a gift to the wind turbine industry
We were born with in-depth knowledge of polyurethane (PUR). And even though today we are well-versed in the use of other materials such as carbon fiber and aluminum, polyurethane material still plays a key role in many of the products and solutions we provide.

PUR is actually one of the strongest, most versatile, and most durable materials in use in the industry today. It is therefore an ideal replacement for many of the traditional materials used to produce a wide range of components. And the results are impressive when it comes to e.g., weight, competitiveness, and the bottom line.

PUR comprises a long series of identical molecular structures, and is available in a number of different forms – polyurethane moulding compound and polyurethane foam, for example – which present different properties.

The finished product is distinguished by a value-creating combination of strength, service life, and flexibility. What is more, PUR components are lighter than those made from alternative materials, and they are completely imperishable and maintenance free.

PUR is thus an excellent choice of material for both new and existing components, where it is used to optimize aspects including weight, strength, service life, manufacturing cost, assembly, and maintenance.

At Polytech, polymers have played a key role in our operations since we started back in 1994 (our name is an abbreviation of “polymer” and “technology”). So you will not find a development house or a component supplier with deeper knowledge of polymer and polyurethane than us. In addition, our experience and know-how mean that we will not hesitate to choose a different material if it makes more sense for the business case as a whole.

In other words, what we do is not defined by a specific material. Only by our mission to generate the greatest value possible for each individual customer. In each and every project.

Why make components of polyurethane?

  • Great versatility
  • Exceptional strength
  • High durability
  • Hard or soft as required (polyurethane moulding compound or polyurethane foam)
  • Weather-resistant
  • UV-resistant
  • Low transport costs
  • Flexible adhesion properties
  • Can be combined with other materials
  • No maintenance
