Polytech is proud to announce that we have signed up to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – the globally recognized framework for ambitious and measurable climate action. By joining SBTi, we are taking the next decisive step in our sustainability journey: committing to concrete climate targets aligned with climate science and focused on tangible action between now and 2030 – not 2040 or 2050.
This marks the start of our journey toward setting science-based climate targets. By submitting our commitment letter, we have pledged to develop near-term emission reduction targets aligned with SBTi’s criteria and the 1.5°C pathway (Paris-Agreement). Over the coming months, we will begin the process of calculating, defining, and submitting these targets for independent validation by SBTi.
Polytech’s decision to adopt SBTi is anchored in several key arguments:
- Climate Impact Now: SBTi’s near-term targets prioritize real CO₂ reductions today, not decades from now.
- An Internationally Recognized Standard: SBTi is widely respected, benchmarked, and demanded by our customers, and is already a requirement across the industry.
- Rigorous and Credible: SBTi requires strict, documented reduction targets. It is clear, auditable, and actionable—significantly reducing the risk of greenwashing.
- Essential for ESG Reporting and CSRD Compliance: With increasing regulatory demands, including CSRD, and Polytech's future VSME reporting requirements, SBTi offers a robust foundation for transparent Scope 1, 2, and 3 emission disclosures.
- Clear Strategic Communication: SBTi-backed targets offer customers, investors, and partners confidence in the credibility and ambition of our climate strategy and make benchmarking straightforward.
By focusing on near-term, science-based targets, Polytech leads with credibility– moving from broad promises to independently validated, measurable results. We believe this is the right approach, for our business, our customers, and the planet.
About SBTi: The Science Based Targets initiative is a partnership between the CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
