Polytech’s aftermarket solutions are engineered to enhance the performance and profitability of asset owners wind turbines. We partner with a broad spectrum of turbine owners, OEM service organizations and independent service providers, providing a global sales and support network to deliver performance-enhancing upgrades and advanced monitoring systems.
Whether you are looking to safeguard your investment through our industry-leading Leading Edge Protection (LEP) solutions or to gain critical insights into blade health with our lightning monitoring services - including the Lightning Key Data System (LKDS) and lightning cards.
With our advanced ELLE® Onshore solution, a 10-meter (32-foot) section of market-leading erosion protection can be installed in less than one hour. The entire process, from preparing the blade surface to final application, is remarkably efficient, taking just 58 minutes, as demonstrated in this video. Following a one-hour curing period, your asset can be returned to full service, maximizing uptime and operational output.
The rate of leading-edge erosion varies considerably depending on turbine type and specific site conditions. This variability presents a challenge, complicating not only the selection of an appropriate protection system but also the forecasting of its long-term durability and financial return.
However, a clear understanding of your site-specific erosion risk is the first step toward defining the most effective and economically sound LEP strategy.
To address this challenge, Polytech has engineered a portfolio of site-optimized leading edge protection solutions designed to simplify the selection process:

Our advanced erosion calculator, which adheres to the DNV-RP-0573 recommended practice, is designed to evaluate and forecast the operational lifetime of erosion protection systems. This allows us to deliver a precise, quantitative analysis of the leading-edge erosion risk specific to your turbines and their operating environment.
The assessment will also model the protective performance of our ELLE® solutions, providing a clear demonstration of their effectiveness in mitigating erosion at your
Polytech's Lightning Key Data System (LKDS®) provides immediate, precise data on lightning events, measuring and recording their characteristics in real time. This data-driven approach removes the ambiguity from post-storm inspections; instead of precautionary shutdowns, you can maintain operations with confidence when no damaging impact is detected or intervene with precision when a strike does occur.
The financial impact is significant. One client, for instance, achieves annual OPEX savings of €1,300 per MW by preventing major damage and increases revenue by €1,500 per MW through improved farm availability after a retrofit installation. This allows for more strategic and cost-effective maintenance planning, directly reducing unnecessary downtime.
Furthermore, LKDS® acts as an early warning system, identifying latent vulnerabilities in blades and electronic systems before they can escalate into critical failures. Engineered for seamless retrofit within the harsh environment of the hub and blades, a dedicated sensor in each blade captures instantaneous, actionable data during a lightning event.
The Polytech Lightning Card System is a basic, robust and field-proven solution for lightning monitoring, currently safeguarding thousands of turbines globally. This cost-effective system is readily available for retrofitting onto existing assets.
The system operates on a simple, effective principle: each card measures the peak current of a strike by irreversibly recording the magnitude of the resulting magnetic field. This ensures the card always holds the data from the most powerful lightning event, as any subsequent, stronger strike will overwrite the previous measurement.
Data is retrieved by physically replacing the card, a straightforward process that can be integrated into scheduled maintenance cycles or performed ad-hoc following a suspected lightning event.
The complete solution includes a dedicated card reader and accompanying software, enabling seamless data analysis and the generation of professional PDF reports for service documentation.
