Polytech is proud to announce that its near-term climate targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the globally recognized framework for ambitious and measurable climate action.
The validation confirms that Polytech's climate targets are aligned with climate science and independently assessed against the SBTi Near-Term Criteria. This milestone marks an important step in Polytech's sustainability journey and reflects our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across both our own operations and value chain.
Following a comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory, target-setting process and independent review by SBTi Services, Polytech's climate targets are now officially validated.
Polytech's validated climate targets
The validated targets are:
- Reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 60% by 2030 from a 2025 base year.
- Ensure that suppliers representing 86.7% of emissions covering Purchased Goods & Services (Category 1), Capital Goods (Category 2), Upstream Transportation & Distribution (Category 4), and Waste Generated in Operations (Category 5) have science-based targets by 2030.
These targets cover both Polytech's direct operations and key parts of the upstream value chain, reinforcing our commitment to driving meaningful climate action throughout our business.
Why SBTi validation matters
Polytech's decision to adopt science-based targets is anchored in several key considerations:
- Climate action based on science: SBTi provides a clear framework for reducing emissions in line with the latest climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement.
- Independent validation: The targets have been reviewed and validated by SBTi Services, providing confidence that our ambitions are robust, measurable and credible.
- Transparency and accountability: Science-based targets create a clear roadmap and facilitate transparent reporting and follow-up on climate progress.
- Customer and stakeholder expectations: SBTi validation supports growing expectations from customers, investors, owners and other stakeholders regarding climate action and emissions reductions.
- Long-term value creation: Climate considerations are increasingly integrated into business decisions, product development and supply chain management, supporting Polytech's long-term competitiveness.
Moving from targets to action
The validation of Polytech's climate targets represents an important milestone, but it is only one step in the journey.
Polytech continues to work actively on reducing emissions through energy optimization, supplier engagement, improved climate data, lower-carbon materials and continuous improvements across operations and the value chain.
About SBTi
